Free Date Night Ideas! Get Moving!

GET MOVING! I don’t know about you, but my favorite thing to do is to curl up next to my husband after a long day. Well, after 5 years of being couch potatoes, I can say I am a lot less active than before I met my husband. I miss being active! So, my husband and I have traded in one day a week of sitting down and are exercising! We were taking fencing classes at our local gym, and let me tell you….. FENCING is a perfect sport for couples. *Stabby Stabby* Just kidding! Here are some other fun ways that you can get moving for free!

1. Gym! If you have a gym membership USE IT! Why pay for it if you don’t go! There are a ton of couple’s workout ideas on Pinterest. Whether you want to do tandem exercises or compete against each other, brainstorm some fun gym ideas to keep each other motivated! You’ll be happy you did! Plus, exercise increases your libido so DOUBLE BENEFITS!

2. YouTube! You can find literally any type of exercise on YouTube! What are each of your fitness goals? Does one of you want to lose weight and the other want to gain flexibility? What can you do to achieve both of your goals? You can search for that on YouTube and it’s FREE! Talk to each other about your goals and get started!

3. Walk! Go out and walk around your neighborhood. It can be a leisurely stroll for just the two of you to talk and hold hands. Check to see when the sunset will happen and time your walk for then. If you have dogs or kids, bring them too! Everyone loves to get outside and be in nature.

4. Hike! When you both have extended time together, turn that walk into a hike! I like the All Trails app to find fun trails! Pack a lunch and go have fun! Take pictures and make memories.

5. Dance! For this one, YouTube will be your friend again! My husband and I have been wanting to go dancing together ever since we have been dating, but have we….. no. Why? We are both super self conscious about how we move. Even though we should just go out and shake our booties, we want to have a couple of cool dance moves to fall back on! Look up your favorite style of dance and get started! I am going to suggest we take up ballroom dancing so I can wear all the dresses I have but never wear! Hahaha!

6. Balls! Go hit some balls with your friends! Nooo… not those balls! The crusty balls hidden away in the trunk of your car, garage, or closet. How much sport equipment do you have that never gets used anymore? My husband and I have acquired a ton! Tennis, soccer, volleyball, racquetball, football, croquet, badminton, snorkels, and on, and on, and on. Some sports you can play as a couple, but why not hop onto Facebook and put together some friends for a day to come and play some games with you! Reconnect with old friends, make new friends, and get moving. Doesn’t have to be competitive!

7. Start your own fitness goal sheet! There’s no better way to be motivated than with your own goals! Sit down, write 10 goals of your own. When you’re both done, share your ideas and if any match, those are the ones you should work on together! Maybe you guys want to do a 5k, go out dancing, join a sports team, get healthier, or anything you can think of.

Get creative and have fun! Do activities that bring out the best in each other. What are some of your favorite ways to get moving with your partner?
